From Fort Portal, we went to Kamwenge to visit Kaitlin's sponsored family. It was 85 kilometers of a bumpy dirt road.
This is where we stayed.... just kidding. But this is a typical hotel that we passed along the way
This is Kaitlin and Michelle in the jungle.
On the way, we passed through a forest... there were wild baboons that came right up to the car when we threw bananas to them. The head baboon kept taking them ALL and not letting the smaller ones have ANY. He was really excited to see us..... really excited. If you look closely at the picture you will see what I mean.
We visited Kaitlin's sponsored family. This is what their house they lived in before the Tris family started to help them. The widow was so poor she did not have a dress to wear to church, the kids were begging from neighbors, and had rags for clothes. Her house was almost to collapse.
Now, the house has been reinforced and plastered. The widow has a garden of corn, and now helps her neighbors. She has two goats and is able to clothe her kids and go to church. She also now has enough to even give to the church and she was so happy to see Kaitlin in person. The whole village turned out and there was a ceremony.
