Visiting Families in Busia

You don't have to be crazy to be with us! But it helps!

Michelle's Not So Wild Animals of Africa

Cats aren't too common here, but -
If there is a cat anywhere in a 10 mile radius, I'll find it and love on it.

Ricky and a chicken

Ok, I have a new found liking for GOATS.. they are sweet, and have a nice voice - kind of like cats....and are very gentle... I found the cutest baby goat in the world...it took me a while to catch him, but it was worth it... When he started to cry for his mama (who was tied nearby) I let him go.

Goats are tied to bushes, rocks, etc here. So I could not resist taking this picture that captures a favorite saying of mine " Never let people know where your goat is tied or they can get your goat!"

We visited families in the Busia district. At the office, we had a community meeting where we gave out relief supplies to the families, and candy and balloons to the kids. Here is JJ, who was highly entertaining to the kids. This is JJ, showing kids how to act like chickens!

Here is Idah, our Ugandan country director, pictured with one of our program participants. He has birth defects which cause his legs to be folded up and shriveled. He must get around very rough terrain in this wheelchair.

This is a grandma that along with a 17 year old grandson, takes care of 5 younger siblings who were orphaned when their parents died of AIDS

Michelle and JJ got up early when we stayed over in Busia to TRY to cross this lake because on the other side, it is KENYA. - just to go for the heck of it..The motorboat never showed up... We were less than a mile away. Bummer...

JJ loved this little baby who is an orphan being raised by grandparents

So did Renata!
