Henry the Hand- Handwashing Education

Part of what I am doing for the teaching of hygiene and sanitation. For the basics, I am teaching proper handwashing using the Henry the Hand program, by Dr. Will Sawyer, in Ohio. Dr. Will generously donated posters, puppets, glow hand gel (for showing germs) and the animated DVD and music CD (which we use in the rare setting where we actually have electricity. The kids really like the experiment that I do where I use the special glow gel and blacklight flashlight to show the hidden germs that are on our hands. Visit www.henrythehand.com to see his whole program which is a good one, and depends mostly on visual clues so reading English is not as important as the message it conveys.
